Other Military Cases:

Between 2003 and 2015, 3M manufactured the Dual-Ended Combat Arms™ Earplugs that were distributed to thousands of military personnel. In a recent settlement agreement with the United States Department of Justice, 3M agreed to pay $9.1 million to resolve allegations that they knowingly sold defective earplugs to the U.S. military. These settlement proceeds will not be distributed to military personnel. Our law firm, along with experienced referral law firm partners, are pursuing civil lawsuits to obtain compensation for hearing loss damages.

Ozempic Lawsuit

Unfortunately, patients taking Ozempic have reported suffering from Gastroparesis, or stomach paralysis—a severe and debilitating stomach disorder. Ozempic, a prescription drug delivered via injection, was designed to help treat type 2 diabetes.

Ozempic and related drugs such as Wegovy, Mounjaro, Rybelsus, Saxenda, Zepbound and Trulicity were designed to help treat type 2 diabetes. However, drugs like Ozempic have been widely advertised and prescribed “off label” for weight loss. Unfortunately, patients taking Ozempic have reported suffering from Gastroparesis, or stomach paralysis—a severe and debilitating stomach disorder. Lawsuits filed against the manufacturer of Ozempic and related drugs claim that they knew or should have known that these drugs can cause Gastroparesis and other GI injuries but failed to provide an adequate warnings.

What is Ozempic?

Ozempic was designed by Novo Nordisk to treat type 2 diabetes and was approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in 2017. It’s a prescription drug delivered via injection, similar to an EpiPen, and treats type 2 diabetes by lowering blood sugar levels.

Ozempic & Gastroparesis (Stomach Paralysis)

Ozempic slows muscle contractions in the stomach that normally occur during digestion. Fewer contractions cause food to stay in the stomach longer causing a person to feel fuller which may help stifle food cravings. However, when stomach muscles slow and food moves too slowly from the stomach to the small intestine a person may experience this stomach paralysis (Gastroparesis). Gastroparesis can cause intestinal blockages or obstruction, and it often leads to nausea and diarrhea.

This chronic gastrointestinal disorder affects the nerves and muscles of the stomach and can last for years. In more severe cases, food may stop moving through the intestine at all. Food that remains undigested in the body may stay in the stomach and harden. In some cases, patients must undergo stomach surgery to improve emptying and digestion.

Symptoms of Gastroparesis include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Bloating
  • Abdominal pain
  • Severe dehydration
  • Acid reflux
  • Malnutrition
  • Weight loss

There is currently no cure for Gastroparesis. It can only be managed medically and surgically. This means that anyone who has developed this condition is potentially facing a lifetime of medical interventions.
