If you or a loved one are a U.S. military service member, veteran, or military contractor who suffered injuries from certain explosive terrorist devices between 2003 and 2011, you may have a claim for significant damages without ever going to court and even if you are already receiving disability or other compensation.
Research has found evidence that links a common firefighting foam with the development of cancer in its users. Those that have been exposed to the dangerous chemicals by ingesting them orally, absorbing them through the skin, or inhaling them through the air are at risk of developing various types of cancer. If you are a veteran of a military base or a resident who lived near a military base and subsequently developed cancer from exposure to the firefighting foam, fill out our free case review to see if you are eligible for compensation without ever going to court.

Overview of the case
The Bard PowerPort, also known as the BardPort, is an implantable medical device used for intravenous delivery of medication—commonly in patients undergoing chemotherapy or long-term treatment. Manufactured by Bard Access Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), the device is implanted under the skin and linked to a major central vein through a catheter.
Constructed from titanium, plastic, and ChronoFlex AL (a polyurethane and barium sulfate compound), the PowerPort includes a silicone septum for access and is meant to allow easy and frequent administration of medications.
However, lawsuits across the country allege that the Bard PowerPort has caused serious complications—including device migration, fractures, blood clots, embolisms, and infection—leading to permanent injury or death in some patients.
Common Complications and Injuries
Patients implanted with the Bard PowerPort have reported a wide range of complications. Some of the most frequently cited issues include:
- Device Fracture: The catheter or port structure may break, leading to fragments traveling through the bloodstream.
- Device Migration: The port may move from its intended position, potentially causing tissue damage or embolisms.
- Thrombosis: The development of blood clots in or near the device.
- Sepsis and Infection: Patients have experienced severe infections at the site of the implant.
- Hemorrhaging or Internal Bleeding: In some cases, catheter defects may cause vascular trauma.
- Death: In extreme cases, complications from the device have been fatal.
Who Is Eligible to File a Lawsuit?
You may be eligible to file a Bard PowerPort lawsuit if:
- You were implanted with a Bard PowerPort device
- You suffered complications such as infection, thrombosis, device fracture, or internal injuries
